North Broward Prep graduate Xavier Edwards made his postseason debut for the Miami Marlins on Wednesday.
Despite the team losing the series 2-0, Edwards recorded a hit against Gregory Soto and also scored the team’s only run.
A 2018 graduate from NBP, Edwards was selected 38th overall in the MLB Draft by the Tampa Bay Rays. He was later traded to the Miami Marlins in a four-team trade and made his MLB debut this season. The slick-fielding infielder recorded his first MLB hit against the Atlanta Braves on May 4th.
Edwards finished the season batting .295 with five three RBIs in 30 games. In the minors, he hit .351 and was a lifetime .393 hitter at NBP. Next season, Edwards has a strong chance to break camp with the Marlins for his first full professional session.
