Carrie Pagley loves to share her passion for art with all the students at Margate Elementary School.
Over the summer, she created two murals in the school’s cafeteria. The school’s PTA previously asked her to create a mural in the library, so she designed and painted one featuring children and animals reading books, along with her paintings of book characters.
One cafeteria mural shows the Margate Elementary mascot, a panther, and the other shows a large letter “M.” Pagley was asked by the principal, Thomas Schroeder, to complete the murals. She created two smaller versions of the murals as pictures, then painted them on a wall in the cafeteria.
“The panther has always been the school mascot, and I wanted to create a beautiful image of a panther for our school,” said Pagley.
Teaching art to children is something Pagley loves. “I think kids are better at art than many adults because they draw and paint what they want and don’t feel as limited,” said Pagley.

A veteran educator, Pagley has been a teacher at Margate Elementary for 23 years and an art teacher for 14 years. She began her career teaching various grades before becoming the art teacher. Pagley hopes to create more murals around the school and involve teachers and students.
