Former North Broward Prep star Xavier Edwards has had quite the season.
Not only did he make his MLB debut earlier this year and record his first career hit off Dylan Lee of the Atlanta Braves, but Edwards recently had a six-hit game in a win for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp on August 5. This season, he is hitting .371 with six home runs, 44 RBIs, and 29 stolen bases and is the team’s tenth-ranked prospect.
During his varsity career with the Eagles, he was a lifetime .393 hitter with three home runs and 27 RBIs. He also had 17 extra-base hits while shining defensively at shortstop.
The Marlins are currently sitting in third place in the National League East and are tied for the final card spot. Edwards could possibly get another call-up in September when the rosters expand to 28.
