On Thursday, the Monarch High School football team bounced back with an impressive 52-0 win against Hallandale High School.
AJ Hairston went 15-20 with four touchdown passes and two rushing scores. Jabari Brady, Samari Reed, Emmanuel Lavaud, and Malik Young scored receiving touchdowns, while Brite Cannon II led the team with 128 yards. Malik Kelsey also added a 31-yard rushing touchdown, with Robert Woods returning a kickoff for a score.
“It was great to get back in the field, Head Coach Calvin Davis said. “The kids responded well this week in practice, and we got better. “Grateful for the win and want to continue to build towards the playoffs.”
Monarch is now 2-1 this year and will play Piper High School in their next game on Wednesday, September 13 at 7 p.m. The Tigers are 2-0 this year under their new Head Coach, Quentin Short.
