Heidelberg University in Ohio will have a bit of a North Broward Prep feel to it after announcing a pair of commits.
Michael Bagot and Michel Peralta will be teammates for the 2022 college football season. Despite Peralta not initially having Heidelberg College on his list, Bagot convinced Peralta to give it a look.
“I feel better knowing I’m going to know someone else on the team and at the university with whom I have a good past,” Bagot said. “I sent him the head coach’s number, and he ended up really liking him, so he got his offer, and on signing day, he made it official.”
Michael Bagot
Bagot felt connected with all the players and coaches he met at Heidelberg University.
“Also, one of my assistant coaches this year, Coach [Noah] Rosado, also played there in college,” he said.
Bagot has been a critical player offensively and defensively for NBP these past two seasons. Bagot began playing football his sophomore year of high school thanks to many of his friends encouraging him to try it. He also reached states in Track and Field in the 4 x 100 relay.
Still, the lack of experience did not hurt him, making six catches for 82 yards this past season and recording ten tackles.
Michel Peralta
After two years on the varsity football team, Peralta made his dream come true.
“It feels amazing,” said Peralta. “This has been my dream since I first knew football, and achieving it brings nothing but joy for my family and me. I do gotta say I’m not done yet. I have big plans coming for the future.”
While playing with the Eagles, Peralta recorded 42 tackles and recovered a fumble. The Eagles won four games with victories over Pompano Beach High School, Archbishop MacArthur, Hollywood Hills, and Coral Springs Charter during his senior year.
The journey, though, was not an easy one. Peralta loved to play contact sports. However, living in Mexico, he played rugby before transferring to North Broward.
For college, Peralta was looking for a solid academic school and a preference for cold weather. After building a tremendous relationship with Bagot, the two made it official.
Both players will join Heidelberg for the 2022 season following their 8-2 record this past year.
