Dustin Michael Eubanks {BSO}
A 911 dispatcher heard a Margate woman say her husband threatened to kill her before police found him barricaded behind furniture, authorities said.
According to a Margate Police Department arrest report, Dustin Michael Eubanks, 37, was arrested on October 9 and charged with false imprisonment, domestic battery, resisting an officer without violence, and violating a domestic violence injunction.
According to a probable cause affidavit, the victim told investigators that Eubanks, whom she had been married to for 10 years, arrived at her residence despite being prohibited from contacting her under a domestic violence protection order.
A records check revealed that Eubanks had been arrested by Margate police on October 2 on a domestic battery allegation. A domestic violence protection order naming the same woman as the protected party had also been served on him that day.
The woman told officers that Eubanks moved out about a week earlier because of the injunction. When he returned, the two began arguing, and Eubanks allegedly became enraged because she had been speaking with his brother and his ex-girlfriend.
According to the affidavit, Eubanks began punching the woman with a closed fist, striking the left side of her body and the back of her head.
When the victim threatened to call police, Eubanks allegedly told her he would call them first. Investigators said he then pushed and shoved her into a laundry basket before throwing clothing and other items on top of her.
Police said Eubanks subsequently closed the door to the closet where the woman was trapped and told her she was not allowed to leave.
The victim told investigators she was unable to escape and feared for her life.
As officers responded to the residence, a 911 dispatcher maintained an open telephone line and overheard the woman saying that Eubanks was hitting her and was going to kill her, according to the affidavit.
Police said the circumstances prompted officers to force entry into the residence. Once inside, officers encountered Eubanks near the front door, where he allegedly stacked furniture and other items to prevent them from entering.
Eubanks was eventually arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
Following Eubanks arrest, investigators noted the victim had extensive bruising, swelling, and redness around her left shoulder and neck.
