
Monarch High School Students Receive Exemplary Career and Technology Education Awards. {Courtesy}
Student-athletes at Monarch High School earned significant recognition this season, highlighted by multiple all-state football selections and several other awards.
Jabari Brady and Lorens Bartelemy were each selected to the All-State and All-Region football teams. Brady, a signee with the University of Missouri, recorded 64 receptions for 1,118 yards and 11 touchdowns. Bartelemy, who signed with Akron University, anchored the offensive line for one of the area’s most productive offenses.
Chris Davis earned First Team All-State honors and was named Honorable Mention All-Region after intercepting two passes and returning them for 85 yards. He will play college football at the University of North Dakota.
Quarterback Florentino Lopez, who recently committed to Winston-Salem State University, was selected to the Second Team All-State and All-Region. He threw for 2,743 yards and 22 touchdowns while adding 546 rushing yards and 10 scores.
DeSean Miller and Jaiden Joselin were both named Third Team All-State selections. Miller, who is also signed with Winston-Salem State University, led the team with three interceptions and later earned Second Team All-Region honors. Joselin paced the defense with 87 tackles and received Honorable Mention All-Region recognition. He is currently signed with Western Carolina University.
Keshawn Paschall was an Honorable Mention selection for both All-State and All-Region after rushing for 918 yards and three touchdowns. Jaboree Riggins also earned recognition, finishing second on the team with 528 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Off the field, Monarch had seven student-athletes receive BCAA Scholar-Athlete honors: Raenaldo Farrington, Joselin, Van Maxwell, Chloe Mercado, Steve Strong, Sebastian White, and Chase Wojcik. Amanda Carosa, Celliana Marinez, and Orion Gunay were Exemplary Career and Technology Education award winners.
The Knights also celebrated success in weightlifting, capturing first place in their first-ever meet at Pembroke Pines Charter High School. Monarch swept both scoring formats, winning the Olympic competition with 21 points and the Traditional competition with 23, finishing ahead of Pine Crest School and Northeast High School.
Farrington led the way in the 183-pound class, posting a 335 Olympic total (150 snatch, 185 clean and jerk) and a 460 Traditional total (185 clean, 275 bench). Mason Hall (199) added a 305 Olympic total and 370 Traditional total, while Mawui Story (139) recorded a 200 Olympic total. Noah Bertano (119) won his weight class with a 140 total, and Nick Soto (Unlimited) contributed a 290 Olympic total and 460 Traditional total.
