Rx-Rated: Police Say Man Stalked Walgreens Employee Through Store While Masturbating

Police say a man stalked a Walgreens employee through a Margate store while masturbating, then fled before investigators identified and arrested him.

According to a Margate Police Department arrest report, Roberto Benjamin Demming, 29, of Lauderdale Lakes, was taken into custody on May 5 and charged with exposure of sexual organs following an incident that occurred on April 18 at the Walgreens at 3000 North State Road 7.

Police said the employee told investigators that Demming first approached her in an aisle and asked a question about merchandise. According to the affidavit, he remained in the aisle for approximately 10 minutes and followed her as she continued working.

The employee told police she had difficulty moving through the aisle because he was so close to her, and later reported seeing him stroking his penis next to his phone. The victim immediately reported the incident to a co-worker, who called 911.

Investigators said Walgreens surveillance video captured the incident and showed Demming fleeing the store.

After obtaining his license plate, investigators searched license plate reader data for similar vehicles in the area and identified a gray Dodge Caravan that was recorded near the Walgreens shortly after the incident. Police said the vehicle was registered to a woman who has a child in common with Demming.

The affidavit also states that Demming had previously been trespassed from a business in Miramar after employees and security cameras allegedly observed similar behavior inside that store.

On May 5, investigators met with Demming at a probation office. Demming was arrested later that day in Lauderdale Lakes. Court records show Demming was booked into the Broward County Main Jail and held without bond on the probation violation.
