A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy and a suspect were both shot in a Margate neighborhood Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
According to BSO, the shooting occurred around 2:30 p.m. as members of the agency’s Burglary Apprehension Team were conducting an investigation in the 6100 block of Northwest Second Street. During the investigation, a suspect shot a deputy who was protected by his bulletproof vest.
The deputy did not suffer life-threatening injuries, officials said.
The suspect was also shot, according to BSO.
Paramedics transported both the deputy and the suspect to a local hospital. Their conditions were not immediately available.
