Residents are invited to celebrate Passover together at a community Seder hosted by Chabad of Margate on Wednesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m.
The event will take place at Chabad of Margate, 5700 Horizons Lane in Margate. Organizers say the evening will feature a traditional Seder with Passover songs, customs, and a three-course holiday meal.
The Passover Seder commemorates the biblical story of the Exodus from Egypt and centers on a ritual meal and readings that recount the Israelites’ journey from slavery to freedom.
Rabbi Mendel Denburg of Chabad of Margate said the holiday’s message remains meaningful today.
“On Passover, as we read the story of the Exodus from Egypt which occurred some 3,300 years ago, we must remember that we too must free ourselves from our own limitations and things holding us back, and experience our own personal freedom,” he said.
Organizers say the Seder is intended to bring the community together.
“The Passover Seder is best enjoyed with family and friends; what better place to get that, and some delicious holiday food than at Chabad,” Rabbi Denburg said.
Traditionally, the Seder begins with an invitation for anyone who needs a place to celebrate to join the meal. Community members who need financial assistance to attend, or who are interested in sponsoring the Seder, are encouraged to contact Rabbi Denburg.
