While it is the summer for most, the North Broward Prep boys basketball team was out on the court and went 4-0 in the FABC Championship in Gainesville on Monday.
The team, consisting of Ryan Baxley, Dylan Hoffman, Enrico Borio, Raul Perez, Pavle Djecic, Jayden Smith, Hudson Samuels, and Sam Cano, defeated FSU High, Orlando Christian Prep, Windermere, and Mainland High School, highlighted by an amazing tournament by Enrico Borio.
Days after receiving an offer from Jacksonville University, Borio had a game-high 19 points, ten rebounds, and three assists in their win over Orlando Christian Prep.
“I am very proud of our team and our program,” Head Coach Casey Wohlleb said. ” We went 4-0 with three rising seniors, one rising junior, and four rising sophomores. While it was great to win, the top reason we were there was for our players to get seen by college coaches. We had between 12-25 college coaches at each game, and we have heard from 20+ coaches since the weekend.”
In 2023, the Eagles had a remarkable season with a record of 22-8, and they even made it to the Regional Final. Unfortunately, Ryan Weiss, the team’s top scorer, graduated. Nevertheless, some promising new players have emerged, and the team is preparing for the upcoming basketball season later this year.
