Broward County Animal Care is inviting residents and their four-legged friends to celebrate Halloween with costumes, treats and an opportunity to adopt a new family member.
The county’s animal shelter will host its free Pup or Treat celebration Saturday, Oct. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale.
The family-friendly event will feature doggy trick-or-treating, a pet costume contest, a pumpkin patch, pup cups and pet-friendly vendors.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to meet adoptable dogs looking for permanent homes. All pet adoption fees will be waived during the event, with adopters responsible only for the required pet registration fee.
“Pup or Treat is an opportunity to bring our community together while helping more shelter pets find loving homes,” said Doug Brightwell, Broward County Animal Care director. “We’re inviting families to enjoy the festivities, treat their pets to something special and consider opening their hearts and homes to an animal in need. With adoption fees waived, it’s an especially good time to welcome a new companion.”
Residents interested in adopting can browse available dogs and cats ahead of the event at Broward.org/Animal.
The celebration is free and open to the community.
