Monarch High School sent 60 student-athletes to Tradewinds Elementary School at 5600 Johnson Road in Coconut Creek to serve as guest readers for Broward’s Real Mean Read.
Players from the Knights’ wrestling, track and field, basketball, baseball, and football teams were assigned a classroom from pre-K to fifth grade. Josh Stephens of the Monarch baseball team had the opportunity to read for his mom’s second-grade class while other players returned to their old classrooms.
Broward Schools not only sent the athletes books to read but gave all the students a book to take home.
