A 22-year-old man who went missing in Margate was found dead in a lake in the city Sunday afternoon, police said.
Lucas Hobandy Carmelo-Rios, who police said went missing around 11 p.m. Saturday, was found the following day in the lake near the 400 block of Banks Road, not far from where he was last seen.
“It has been confirmed that the individual found deceased in the lake is the same individual previously reported as missing,” Margate Police spokesman Major Michael Druzbik told Margate Talk Monday.
Druzbik said “there are no signs of suspicious activity at this time.”
The case will remain open until the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office completes its investigation, police said.
Police have not released additional details, including how Carmelo-Rios may have died.
