Margate’s Javi Miranda Signs With Bethune-Cookman University

Margate native Javi Miranda has officially signed with Bethune-Cookman University, earning the opportunity to continue his baseball career at the NCAA Division I level after two successful seasons at Indian River State College.

Miranda was originally committed to Florida International University, but after a coaching change, he reopened his recruitment. He said the coaching staff at Bethune–Cookman University was the first to contact him after his decision, and their consistent communication helped make his choice clear.

“That made me confident they had my best interests at heart and that I could become a key piece of their program”, Miranda said. “They had an incredible season, beating some of the top teams in college baseball, and I’m excited to help continue that success. It’s also great that I get to stay in Florida, so my family can easily drive to my games instead of having to fly out of state.”

Miranda had been around the game for nearly his entire life, first picking up a baseball at the age of two. Throughout his youth career, he competed for several prominent travel programs, including the South Florida Inferno, Boca Hitmen, Big Shot Bombers, and Original Florida Pokers.

A 2023 graduate of J.P. Taravella High School, Miranda contributed both as a pitcher and position player during his prep career, recording a win and a save in both his junior and senior seasons before transitioning into a full-time pitcher at the collegiate level.

Miranda began his college career at Indian River State College, where he made an immediate impact as a freshman. He finished the season with a 3-3 record while striking out 47 batters in 47 innings pitched. He followed that performance with another strong sophomore campaign, earning three additional victories while continuing to establish himself as one of the team’s most reliable arms.

Miranda is set to join a program that posted a 38-20 record a season ago. They were most recently in the NCAA Tournament in 2025 and have qualified 16 times, including seven players drafted to the MLB
