A man was arrested and charged with premeditated murder after stabbing a man multiple times.
On April 24, the Margate Police Department responded to the report of a stabbing incident.
According to the arrest report, upon arrival, responding officers were flagged down by a resident pointing toward a man, later identified as Robert Wayne Gill, 54, of Margate, indicating that he was the man responsible for the crime.
The report says officers commanded Gill at gunpoint to lie on the ground, but he ignored their requests and instead yelled, “f-ck you.”
Officers indicate in the report that following multiple commands, they deployed a K-9 that helped take Gill into custody.
The report shows that once Gill was handcuffed, officers entered the home to find a victim hunched over and covered in blood with lacerations on their neck and rib. The victim told officers that Gill had been the man that “stuck him.”
Officers noted in the report that witnesses reported a loud argument between the victim and the suspect and checked to see what was happening. Witnesses said they found Gill on top of the victim in the bedroom closet once they entered the room. The witness intervened and pulled the suspect off the victim.
The report states that Margate Fire and Rescue took the victim and then airlifted him to North Broward Hospital.
According to the arrest report, Gill admitted to stabbing the victim, telling officers, “I did it. I stabbed him. I did it all.”
Gil was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
