Leon Miguel Jurado Villalba {BSO}
A Margate man faces stalking and cyber sexual harassment charges after police say he sent sexually explicit videos of a woman to friends and family.
According to a Margate Police Department arrest report, Leon Miguel Jurado Villalba, 52, was arrested August 7 on charges stemming from a probable cause affidavit filed following allegations.
The affidavit states police were already familiar with the case because the victim’s Margate business had allegedly become a location known for narcotics sales, illegal alcohol sales, and prostitution during the early morning hours.
The victim told investigators that on February 28, Jurado Villalba struck her and forced her to leave the apartment they shared. She filed for a temporary restraining order on March 20.
Police said another confrontation occurred March 21 when the victim returned to collect her belongings. According to the affidavit, Jurado Villalba allegedly took her cellphone during the altercation and threw it into a canal. The victim told police he also destroyed her passport and deleted evidence she had collected documenting alleged abuse.
The affidavit states that investigators later learned of a tracking device inside the victim’s car. A relative searching the vehicle reportedly discovered a black, credit-card-sized device containing a QR code linking to Life360, an app that shares real-time locations.
The victim told police she had previously felt Jurado Villalba was following her because he would appear at places where she happened to be. Investigators noted that it was unclear when or how the device had been placed inside the vehicle.
According to police, people who knew the victim contacted her after allegedly receiving unsolicited intimate photographs or videos showing her engaged in sexual acts. One witness told police Jurado Villalba allegedly sent two photographs and a video of the woman performing sexual acts through WhatsApp.
Another witness in Colombia told investigators that Jurado Villalba contacted him and allegedly sent a photograph and video depicting the victim in sexual situations.
Police said the alleged harassment continued throughout May, June and July even after Jurado Villalba moved back to Colombia. The victim told investigators she repeatedly blocked phone numbers, but he allegedly used new ones to continue sending long messages, voice notes and videos containing insults.
MPD arrested Jurado Villalba leaving his apartment building on August 7 and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail.
