North Broward Prep continues to collect District Championships, following one from the baseball team and another from Max Freedman in tennis.
The baseball team entered the District Tournament as the top seed after another dominating season. The Eagles played Clewiston High School and needed only five innings to record a 10-0 win behind two RBIs from Kiernan O’Neil and Adrian Rodriguez. At the same time, Brayden Hassel, Josiah Haslem, and Julian Rodriguez also knocked in runs.
Logan Bristol pitched and allowed only one hit and struck out 10 before winning a tight 2-1 game against American Heritage High School on Thursday. NBP scored both their runs in the fourth inning while Jack Rostock tossed five innings and allowed no runs and nine strikeouts. Filippo Baldassari and O’Neil each tossed one inning in relief.
The Eagles are now 21-6 this year and are seeded second in Regionals. They will face American Heritage High School, as this will be a best-of-three series. The Patriots also went 21-6 this year, but lost 3-2 to the Eagles in their only meeting.
Freedman also won a championship, winning a District Title in tennis. The former State Champion is having another dominant season with the boys team winning eight of their 15 matches this season. The girls team also had five wins and competed in the District Championship. After starting the season 0-6, they went on to beat Archbishop McCarthy, David Posnack Jewish Day, Westminster, Coral Springs Charter, and Pompano Beach High School.
The lacrosse teams each competed in the District Championship, with the boys team losing 12-3 against Pine Crest School despite goals from Chandler Ripps, Chase Rosentrauch, and Jamie Routman. The Eagles finished the season 5-11. They will have Max Brownbill, Brandon Moldof, Jeremy Panster, Zachary Cohen, Matthew Routman, Luke Bons, Ripps, Taylor Lemieux, Grant Fawcett, and Georgie Quatela graduate this year.
The girls team won 10 games during the regular season but were beaten 16-5 against Kings Academy. However, they will return a large part of their team next year, with only two seniors: Eva Piskun and Samantha Edlelson.
The beach volleyball team also finished its season, losing all five matches against Benjamin High School. The Eagles ended the season with three wins, coming against Highland Christian, Sports Leadership and Management, and Somerset Academy Cantyons with their lone senior, Madison Easton.
The track and field team also held Senior Night with Danylo Babinchuk, Baker, Luke Diamond, Joshua Espinosa, Gilman, Matthew Kazimirov, Alex Pavon, Joseph Rondon, Sebastian Smith, and Dylan Tierney from the boys team.
