North Broward Prep boys and girls track and field competed in their second meet of the season and came in second place.
NBP competed against St. Thomas Aquinas, Cardinal Gibbons, Pompano Beach, and Fort Lauderdale. The boys team was in the triple jump, with the Eagles sweeping the podium with Marcus Dixon placing first, followed by Grant Depenbrock and Zach Vidal.
Michael McGrath finished first in the shot put and second in the discus. Ryan Baxley won the high jump, while Armando Suarez, Wills Gillis, Eric Levy, and Daniel Robles won the 4 x 800 relay. Vidal, Jamir Jaden Blackburn Dylan Tierney and Damisi Faluyi came in fourth in the other relay race, while Eric Levy, Tate Rowland, and Faluyi ran well.
The girls top performance came from Nina Sanguino after winning the long jump and triple jump, while Alexa Schwartz won the javelin. Eva Alonso, Victoria Depenbrock, Ivory Edgecomb, and Destiny Wiggins finished second in the 4 x 100 relay, with Liela Lacho, Bailey Robello, Madison Pavon, and Chenxi Wu coming in second in the 4 x 400 relay. Edgecomb, Lacho, and Leah Finkelman all shined as well individually.
“I love the team camaraderie the most,” said Head Coach John Garrish. “It seems like even with a host of new members to the team, the group has gelled together and formed bonds across all of the events. I feel like teammates are supporting each other better than they ever have.”
