Coconut Creek High School girls’ volleyball shined on Monday during Senior Night in their win over Stranahan High School.
The Cougars defeated the Mighty Dragons 25-15, 25-21,18-25, 25-19 to pick up their sixth win of the season. Coconut Creek also honored their six seniors: Allyson Stinfile, Saryah Azor, Jenifer Varon, Shanice Germain, Stephaine Bogan, and Thriscell Russell.
This group of seniors took over a team that went 0-15 last year and won a combined two matches from freshman to junior year. Head Coach Sean Leonardo calls it remarkable they have been able to do this with an opportunity to finish the season with a winning record.
“They set the tone for a new program in my first year taking over,” Leonardo said. “The job for this group isn’t done as they don’t like to be compared to years past as this group is just different and has something to prove.”
Next, the Cougars will be back in action on Thursday, October 6, at 4:30 p.m. against Boyd H. Anderson High School. The Cobras come in with a record of 0-5 and have won only two sets all year. However, the Cobras picked up one of their two wins in 2021 against Coconut Creek.
