A Margate Middle School Teacher was Honored by the City Commission as “Teacher of the Month.”
According to Kenyetta Harrison, chair of the school’s science program, Racquel Johnson was among a group of teachers and students honored during the December 4 meeting because her life science students performed exceptionally well on a state science proficiency examination.
Johnson, a resident of Tamarac, also started a school club known as Charming Ladies of Distinction.
“We are focusing on educating young ladies to express themselves positively and build social skills,” she said.
The commission also recognized Harrison after she completed the Principal Rapid Orientation and Preparation in Educational Leadership (PROPEL) program at Florida Atlantic University.
Harrison is in the process of becoming an assistant principal in Broward County Public Schools and is waiting to see where she will be assigned.
