A man was arrested last week after stealing a high-end guitar from the Sam Ash Music Store in Margate, court records show.
Gabriel Garcia, 31, swiped the $3,399 guitar from the music store at 5460 W. Sample Rd. on July 8 before trying to pawn the instrument at a pawn shop near the casinos in Hollywood, according to police records.
“The subject pawns [stolen] items and gambles at nearby casino(s),” Margate Police wrote in a crime summary.
Seminole Police Department officers were tipped off to Garcia’s theft and found him inside Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, where he was arrested on numerous outstanding warrants, records show.
Margate Police said their investigation of Garcia is ongoing.
Garcia, whose hometown was not made public, is charged with multiple crimes, including grand theft, dealing in stolen property, organized fraud, and filing false information on a pawnbroker form, records show.
He faces 27 criminal charges in total, records show.
Garcia was being held on a $172,500 bond Thursday at the Broward Main Jail.
