Stephen Mauricette, an equipment operator, was honored for 30 years of service to Margate during the September 17 meeting.
He was presented with a plaque by the commission and complimented by his supervisor, Public Works Director Gio Batista.
“Stephen has always worked hard during an eight-hour day and would often insist on getting a job done before lunchtime. He operates our largest equipment and has worked hard to repair sidewalks, install and remove speed humps, and perform many other tasks,” said Batista.
Stephen appreciated the compliments and said he enjoys working for Margate. He began his career in 1995 in the parks and recreation department and eventually moved to public works.
“I love my job and I don’t plan to leave,” he said. Stephen’s wife, Guerline, stood next to him as he was honored.
