The commission approved the millage rate for the city during a final budget hearing on September 17.
The millage rate for fiscal year 2025/2026 is 7.5378 mills per thousand dollars of assessed valuation, which includes 0.4207 for the voted debt service. The operating millage rate of 7.1171 is 7.47% higher than the roll-back rate of 6.6221.
The average assessed value of a single-family home in Margate is $203,617, according to city information. Property taxes for an average single-family home would be $1,534.82..
There was little discussion among the commissioners. Vice Mayor Antonio Arserio said residents should know that property taxes have not increased in the last seven years.
