A man was charged with first-degree murder Monday in the July killing of a Margate teen girl, authorities said.
Tyler Mobley, 23, of Sunrise, was arrested in the fatal July 15 shooting of Bryanna Lizette Nina, 18.
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit made the bust in collaboration with BSO’s V.I.P.E.R. (Violent Intervention Proactive Enforcement Response) unit, investigators said.
Nina was shot around 6:40 p.m. on July 15 near the 1000 block of Southwest 76th Avenue in North Lauderdale, where BSO deputies and emergency crews found her suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics rushed her to Broward Health North, where she was later pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, Nina was standing outside of an apartment complex when people exited a dark-colored vehicle and began shooting. Detectives said the shooters fled the scene following the crime.
During BSO’s investigation, Mobley was identified as a suspect in the homicide, and a warrant for his arrest was obtained, according to BSO. He was arrested Monday in Sunrise.
The accused killer also faces several probation violation charges stemming from prior burglary and firearm cases, according to court records.
BSO did not provide information about any additional suspects in the case.
Mobley was being held without bond Tuesday at the Broward Main Jail
