A 67-year-old man was killed when the SUV he was driving crashed into a large palm tree on Monday night, authorities said.
Detectives with the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit said Wilfrid Joseph, 67, was driving a 2008 Honda Pilot north on North Andrews Avenue in Oakland Park when the SUV veered northwest into a median and collided with a tree near Northwest 47th Court shortly after 6:45 p.m.
BSO deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded. Rescuers rushed Joseph, the SUV’s only occupant, to Broward Health Medical Center.
Joseph, who authorities said experienced a “medical event” before the crash, was pronounced dead by doctors.
Additional information about the incident was not made public. The crash remains under investigation by BSO.
