Reese and Sylvester {Humane Society of Broward County}
At just 9 months old, Reese is growing up behind kennel glass instead of romping through a backyard. This playful Labrador mix arrived at the Humane Society of Broward County as a tiny pup, only to be surrendered later because he “got too big.”
Despite his sunny personality and love for rope toys, dog parks, and new friends, Reese has spent over a month at the shelter, still waiting for someone to notice him.
Reese is crate-trained, friendly, and good with kids and other dogs. While he’s an independent spirit, he’s also affectionate on his own terms. He’s not just looking for a home—he’s hoping someone sees the spark in him and chooses him for life. Thanks to Florida Panthers player Sam Bennett and his Benny’s Buddies program, Reese’s adoption fee has already been covered.
Meanwhile, 2-year-old Sylvester is having a harder time adjusting. After his family lost their home, the gentle gray-and-white cat was surrendered to the shelter. Scared by the noise and chaos of his new surroundings, Sylvester often hides away in his cat house.
But don’t let his shyness fool you—Sylvester is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves to cuddle and chat during mealtime. He’s well-behaved, doesn’t scratch furniture, and gets along well with kids and other cats. What he really needs now is a quiet, loving home where he can feel safe again. J.R. Dunn Jewelers has generously paid his adoption fee, making it easier for the right family to give him a second chance.
To meet Reese or Sylvester, fill out a pre-adoption application at www.humanebroward.com and visit the Humane Society of Broward County at 2070 Griffin Road in Fort Lauderdale. Adoption kennels open daily at 11 a.m. For questions, call 954-989-3977.
