The Margate Police Department responded to a variety of incidents and made multiple arrests between July 22 and 28, 2025.
Burglary
A resident of the 7200 block of NW 5th Court returned home after being away for about a month to find her locked closet safe open and its contents missing. There were no signs of forced entry, and the victim stated no one else had access to the apartment.
A burglary and theft incident was reported on the ___ block of SW 1st Street. The crime, delayed from June, involved an unknown suspect entering the victim’s backyard through a gate and stealing several mangos and a fruit case valued at approximately $200.
Grand Theft Auto
On July 9, a black male used a fraudulent Texas driver’s license to rent a Chevrolet cargo van from U-Haul at 1700 N. State Road 7. After the rental, it was discovered that the license was fake. The suspect was also involved in a separate stolen vehicle case in Wilton Manors under a different identity.
Vehicle Burglary
A gray Infiniti was broken into on the ___ block of W. River Drive between 12:40 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. on July 29. The vehicle’s passenger-side window was smashed, but nothing was taken.
Retail Theft
On July 28, between 9:30 and 9:34 a.m., an unknown white male entered Walgreens at 3000 N. State Road 7 and stole 23 packs of cigarettes valued at $231.15.
Arrests
DUI Arrest
A male driver was found passed out behind the wheel following a crash at 6510 NW 1st Street. A DUI investigation led to his arrest. He was turned over to Broward County.
Warrant Arrests
Police responding to a domestic disturbance at 5520 SW 7th Street arrested Corey Swisher after discovering he had an active warrant.
On July 28, at 11:47 p.m., Luiz Arthur Sa Leitao Danzi, 41, was stopped for driving 61 mph in a 35 mph zone near 550 N. State Road 7. A search revealed an active warrant, which was confirmed via BSO Teletype. Danzi was also cited for driving with a suspended license and speeding.
