Very few coaches in the country have ever won a State Championship, but North Broward Prep’s Brian Campbell has won a pair the last two years.
He was officially named Coach of the Year, following the team 23-9. The Eagles also won a District and Regional Championship and five postseason games.
Coach Campbell says the award is special, but he says he wouldn’t be able to do it without his entire coaching staff.
After getting off to a slow start, Campbell’s team was led offensively by a pair of college signees. North Broward hit 21 home runs and scored 195 runs.
They also set a school record with 11 home runs in their win against Westminister Christian and received tremendous pitching. NBP had a team ERA of 2.80 while striking out 275 hitters in 217 innings.
Despite having five seniors graduating this year, including University of Florida signee Yoel Tejada Jr, Campbell returns seven of nine starters from a year ago.
