Margate Police took two illegal guns off the street during a traffic stop last week, court records show.
The bust happened June 8 around 12:35 a.m. after officers stopped a blue 2020 Hyundai sedan driving without headlights in the 1500 block of N. State Road 7, according to an arrest affidavit.
Inside the car, police found two handguns: a Smith & Wesson .40 caliber pistol and an FNX 9 millimeter pistol reported stolen from Chatham County, Ga.
Both guns were loaded and had a round in the chamber, police said.
The car’s passenger, Jaheim Plummer, 18, of 5553 W. McNab Rd. in North Lauderdale, told police he had stolen the 9-millimeter pistol but did not tell them where according to the affidavit. He did not have a permit for either weapon, making them illegal to carry, police said.
Plummer was charged with one count of grand theft of a firearm and two counts of carrying a concealed firearm, records show.
He was booked into the Broward Main Jail.
Bond information in his case was not available Wednesday.
