It was a successful day in Coconut Creek for girls’ volleyball, with two teams picking up wins in the District Tournament.
Monarch High School
Monarch High School picked up a four-set win over Olympic Heights Community High School to advance to the semifinals. This was the team’s fifth win of the season in 12 matches.
They are set to play one of the top teams in the State in their next match against Boca Raton Community High School on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m.
The Bobcats had a bye in their opening round and went 18-1 this year, with their lone loss coming against Westminister Christian Academy in their final regular season game.
North Broward Prep
North Broward Prep defeated American Heritage School 25-11, 25-22, and 25-19 to advance to the district semifinals. This was the Eagles’ ninth win of the season and the second time they beat the Stallions this year.
Yasmin Marti led the team with seven kills, while Cassidy Lehman had six. Hailey Caple and Stella Hartman combined for ten. Defensively, Baylor Worley led the team with 17 digs, and Destiny Wiggins had 27 assists.
They are set to play Coral Springs Charter in the district semifinals on Tuesday, Oct. 18, at p.m. The Panthers are 15-4 this year and defeated Dreyfoos School of the Arts in their first postseason match.
Coconut Creek High School
Coconut Creek High School’s season ended in three sets against Deerfield Beach High School. It was still an incredible year for the Cougars, who set the school record for most wins in a season with 11. This came after going winless in 2021.
