Monarch High School football has added two more commitments to SEC Schools.
Offensive Lineman Bryan Augusto is set to attend the University of Kentucky, and Samari Reed is headed to the University of Mississippi to play for Coach Lane Kiffin.
“Committing felt like being on the top of the world, Auguste said. “I mean, finally knowing where your next four years are going to be spent is an amazing feeling. I wish everyone could’ve felt the way I did at the moment.”
Auguste only began playing football two years ago and started at Boyton Beach High School. He played one year on the junior varsity team before moving up and then transferring to Monarch High School as a junior. He was a major part of helping the Knights win their second straight District Championship and first Regional Title in school history.
When deciding where he wanted to play in college, Auguste focused on finding the right coaching staff and playing in tough competition. He hopes to improve his pass protection technique, but he still has one more year left on the varsity team at Monarch.
Reed said, “It’s a relief for me to commit, so now I can focus on my senior year and goals. Lane Kiffin sends kids from down south to the league. That’s what he’s known for.”
Reed began playing football when he was seven with the Coconut Creek Eagles. Once the Eagles were dismantled, he played for the Deerfield Bisons for his 11u season before playing for the Miramar Wolverines. After starting at Coral Springs High School as a freshman, Reed transferred to Monarch.
He had a historic season last year, catching 56 passes for 1,311 yards, scoring 15 touchdowns, and being invited to the US Army Bowl. The US Army Bowl features a network of 50 scouts and recruiting partners from around the nation and world to help identify the best players at each grade level and position.
