The week is off to a strong start at Monarch High School, with several teams recording wins before the holiday break.
The boys basketball team beat Boca Raton Community High School 59-52 in their last game to improve to 2-3 this year. Benjamin Boutin led the way with 18 points, Kayden Williams added 17, and Nikyle Campbell had 15. Samuel Osorio Gasca and Jean Baptiste also scored as the Knights had a win this year against Mcarthur High School on Dec. 6.
The girls’ soccer team also won, beating Deerfield Beach High School 3-1 on Monday. Keratin Iadarola scored twice and has seven this year, while Daliah Alvarado-Nater also scored. The Knights previously won over Plantation, Coral Springs, and Coral Glades.
The boys’ soccer team won 1-0 against Everglades High School on Dec. 11 but has lost its last two games against Doral Academy and Deerfield Beach High School. The girls’ basketball team is winless, having lost its first six games of the year.
The wrestling team was back in action on Monday, hosting Deerfield Beach and West Broward High School. The Knights began the season 3-1, following wins over McArthur, Charles W. Flanigan, and Plantation High School. Their only loss was against American Heritage High School. The girls’ wrestling team will have its first tournament on Tuesday, December 17.
