Margate children will continue to have school crossing guards in the coming year.
During the February 18 meeting, the commission passed a resolution approving an extension of the agreement with Butler Group of South Florida, doing business as Nextaff of South Florida.
The city will pay a rate of $21 per hour for crossing guards and supervisory personnel from July 2026 through July 2027 and provide for an extension without further commission action until another bid is awarded.
Nextaff is a local company with a background in school crossing guard program administration. The company offers a fully managed model that includes recruiting, background screening, training, supervision, and reliable post coverage. Nextaff has provided crossing guard services in Cooper City, Deerfield Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Pompano Beach, according to its website.
