Margate is moving closer toward building artificial turf fields at the Margate Sports Complex.
During the February 11 Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) meeting, the board passed a resolution to authorize Cale Curtis, the executive director, to negotiate an agreement with the highest-ranked firm, Nidy Sports Construction Company, based on a request for qualifications from companies for the design/build of artificial turf fields at the complex.
If Curtis cannot reach an agreement with the company, he may negotiate with the next-ranked firm in succession until an agreement is reached, according to city information.
The CRA also passed a resolution approving change orders totaling $7,049, $17,647, and $61,317 for the Margate Boulevard Crosswalk and Landscape Improvement Project with FG Construction, and increasing the contract time by an additional 14 days.
City staff determined that work outside the original contract was needed, and that the CRA would have to approve additional funding for the project, according to CRA board chair Anthony Caggiano.
