North Broward Prep Update: Signings, Tournaments, Postseason & More

North Broward Prep Holds Signing Day. {Isabelle De Castro}

North Broward Prep was back in action with the football team competing in the playoffs while the soccer team began their season along with a signing day and hockey tournament. 

After winning five games in the regular season and securing the eighth seed in the postseason, the football team lost 63-13 against top-seeded Calvary Christian Academy.

The boys soccer team is 4-0 to start the season for the second time in the last three years. They started the year with a 2-1 win over FAU High before winning 5-0 against Calvary Christian Academy. The Eagles then beat Saint Andrew’s 1-0 on Monday before a 2-1 victory over Benjamin High School on Tuesday.

Their team consists of Elijah Argov, Zachary Brown, Jacob Coffman, Vladamir Semenov, Felipe Gehm Wagner, Alexanders Papadopoulos, Maxwell Galperin, Jamal Osman, Alejandro Ramirez, Filipe Cabral, Christian Linas Castillo, Xavier Crooks, Patricio Galvan, Nicolas Boulton, Cameron Riddle, David Silveria, Eliezer Adame, Colton Tunick, Danilo Babinchuk, Arsenii Kantsurov, Luis Abdeljalek, and Lakiv Amchislavskiy.

The girls won 6-0 in their game first game, with Lila Brown and Sumayah Brown scoring a pair of goals. Kaylee Forcione and Madelyn Zunz also found the back of the net, with Forcione, Kunz, Makovsky, Sumayyah, Lila, and Isabella Cancelier recording assists.

They followed that up with an 8-0 win on Wednesday over Calvary Christian Academy, with Sumayah recording a hat trick. Anabelle Strati, Siena Clifford, Sofia Cifra Hallberg, Eduardo Kroschinky, and Sophia Souza all scored, with Cancellier recording an assist.

North Broward Prep Girls Soccer. {NBP Athletics}

NBP closed the week with one final game against Cooper City behind goals number six and seven this week from Sumayah while Kroschinko and Kaiden O’Neil. Zoie Brown made 12 saves during the three games and did not allow a goal.

The Eagles are coming off a season where they went to Regionals and had 14 wins. The rest of their team consists of Siena Clifford, Alicia Makovsky, Laila Dionisio, Ivory Edgecomb, Ella Munoz, Jayda Palumbo, Megan Tennant, Sophia Souza, Sophia Silverstone, Caitlyn Espinosa and Sloan Munoz.

Next, the girls will play Cardinal Gibbons on, November 28 at 5 p.m. while the boys will follow at 7 p.m. 

The cross country team competed in regions with Wills Gillis shining, placing 17th at 17:24.87. Wills Gillis came in 29th, while Lucas Wiley finished under 20 minutes. Calvin Lukens, Daniel Robles, and Noah Rivers all finished with nearly identical times, while Luke Diamond and Dakota Miller helped NBP come in 11th place as a team. 

North Broward Prep Cross Country. {NBP Athletics}

NBP had two golfers compete in the State Championship in Howey in the Hills with Cruz Allegianis shooting in the 80’s all three rounds and finished 23rd. Cooper Roth also competed and finished 66th.

The Eagles also held signing day for five baseball players as Ryan McPherson will be attending Mississippi State. The right-handed pitcher has been on the varsity baseball team for two years and helped the Eagles win a State Championship in 2022. He is 11-0 in his high school career with an ERA of 2.48.

Riley Luft is signed to play Appalachian State and has won two State Championships with the Eagles. He also helped lead MsD to the State Finals this past season, shunting on both the mound and the plate. Luft has six career varsity wins and 11 saves while also hitting .326 with seven home runs and 57 RBIs.  Gian De Castro is headed to Arizona State University and has played two years on varsity. He has but .309 in his career with four home runs and 37 RBIs while also playing strong defense at third base. 

Mateo Gray transferred to NBP before his junior year and will be playing at the University of Central Florida next year. Like Luft, Gray was a two-way player, going 5-0 with a 1.39 era and also hitting .333 with two home runs and knocking in 26 runs. TJ. Gramesty also transferred to NBP before his junior year and will be playing at Florida Atlantic University. The catcher hit .321 with a home run and 11 extra bases with the Eagles. 

The NBP hockey team traveled to Chicago for a tournament and competed in four games.
