The Margate Commission approved the budget and millage rate during a final hearing on September 16.
It approved a Fiscal Year 2026/2027 millage rate of 7.5159 mills per thousand dollars of assessed valuation. This includes 0.3988 for voted debt service.
The operating millage rate of 7.1171 is 5 percent higher than the rolled-back rate of 6.7688, according to city information.
The commission adopted an operating budget for the city for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2026, and ending September 30, 2027.
This budget covers the general fund, special revenue funds, debt service funds, capital projects funds, enterprise funds, and an internal service fund.
For fiscal year 2027, the total budget for all funds is $251,248,610, according to city information.
