Senior Games held in Margate, Florida {City of Margate}

Margate seniors turned out in force for the city’s senior games last month, with residents competing in sports like basketball, pickleball, shuffleboard, and even Wii bowling and table tennis.

A total of 147 city residents age 60 and over competed in the games, held from March 7 to 11 at various locations across Margate, after seeing last year’s games canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We welcome our senior residents to participate in this multi-sport, friendly competition specifically designed for ages 60 and older,” said Margate Mayor Antonio Arserio. “This is a great opportunity for our seniors to socialize while staying fit and healthy.”

In last month’s games, Margate seniors competed in horseshoes, billiards, shuffleboard, Rummikub, dominos, golf putting, bowling, basketball, Wii bowling, table tennis, Petanque, bocce, pickleball, pinochle, and mixed doubles tennis.

The senior games will be back in 2023 for another week of competition.

The competitions were held at the NW Focal Point Senior Center, AMF Bowling/Margate Lanes, Coral Cay Plantation, Firefighters Park, and Oriole Golf Club.
