Jeff Hollin has a passion for music and drumming.
A resident of Margate, he played drums with the Fushu Daiko performers during the International Day Festival on April 5 at the sports complex. The drumming style is known as Taiko, and it is considered an art form and a martial art in Japan.
“I love drumming, and it is much fun. We share Japanese culture at festivals and live performances on our big drums,” said Hollin.
According to Hollin, Fushu Daiko is a cultural arts organization that serves the community through performances, educational programs, and workshops.
Hollin grew up in the city, attended Margate Elementary and Middle School, and graduated from Coconut Creek High School. He now works as a physical therapist.
The festival included Margate businesses that presented their products and services. Kushnite Culture, a home-based company, offered handmade dominoes. Kafi Marsh enjoyed the event and the opportunity to meet customers.
