A new driving school is coming to Margate.
The Shekinah One Driving and Traffic School celebrated its grand opening at 6191 West Atlantic Boulevard #7 on Friday afternoon.
Mayor Arlene Schwartz and Commissioner Anthony Caggiano, along with leaders from the Greater Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point, and Margate Chambers of Commerce, and community leaders, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Anna and Louis-Saint Dorvilier, a husband-and-wife team, own the school and look forward to providing driver education to the community. Shekinah offers the written test authorized by the state, an in-person road test, basic driving lessons, and traffic classes. It is also certified to provide driver training to individuals with ADHD.
“We want to empower people to become safer and more responsible drivers, and we are a family business,” said Anna.
The Margate location is the second for Shekinah, which also has a site in Boynton Beach, according to Anna.
Before the ribbon was cut, Caggiano said a new driving school would be a positive addition to Margate and that with the large number of cars in the city, more driving education might make the streets safer.
Schwartz welcomed Shekinah and said many people could benefit from classes on safe driving.
Shekinah’s hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It is closed on Sunday.
