
High Jump at the Track and Field Championship. {MSAA}
Margate Middle School had a postseason to remember, beginning with the Regional Championships.
Robert Khan took first place for the boys in the 200-meter and long jump. He was also part of the 4 x 200 relay, which came in third, along with Dylan Randolph, Anthony Bautista, and Joshua Lowe. He also finished sixth in the 100 meters. Anthony Bautista, Elijah Blakely, Dylan Randolph, and Aldrich Jean finished second in the 4 x 200 relay, and Xavier Marshall, Wilnis Sainmelus, Javiere Fain, and Joshua Lowe finished third in the 4 x 400 relay.
Guvenson Dieujuste also excelled, finishing second in the high jump. He also finished fourth in the 800 meters and 100 hurdles while placing fifth in the long jump. Lowe and Fuentes each came in third in their events, while Mason Bouza and Kenneth Williams came in the top six in the discus. Mason Bouza, Elijah Blakely, Dylan Randolph, and Octavio Dormevil all came in the top ten. John Paul came in 11th in the shot put to help the boys place second overall.
At the County Championship, Diejuste finished fourth in the 800 meters and fourth in two events, while Khan came fifth in the long jump. Lowe and Khan also came in the top ten, and the three relay teams placed eighth in one race and 11th twice. Fenneles and Bouza also competed to help the boys finish 14th overall.
The girls team was also dominant, finishing second in Regionals and Counties. In their first race, Taylor Miller, Shaniya Golphin, Christina Glasco, and Jayde Harrison won the 4 x 100 relay. Tyra Gibbs, Chyann McCauley-Bynes, Taylor Miller, and Christian Glasco took first in the 4 x 400 relay, with Harrison also winning the long jump. Jada Bartley, Shaniya Golphin, Jayde Harrison, and Christina Glasco came in second in the 4 x 200 relay. Harrison and Bartley also came in second on the track, with Teyanna Metoyer finishing as the runner-up in discus. Miller and Mya Israel finished in the top five, with Gibbs, Teyanna Metoyer, Ayanna Jones, and Glasco in the top ten.
Harrison won the long jump at counties, and Metoyer came in second in the discus. Gibbs, McCauley-Bynes, Miller, and Glasco came in second in the 4 x 400 relay, with Bartley, Golphin, Harrison, and Glasco placing third in the 4 x 100 meters. Margate had their 4 x 200 relay place eighth, with Barley and Harrison also in the top four in their events. Israel and Miller also competed and placed 12th and 13th, respectively.
