Cokesbury United Methodist Church of Margate members are getting ready to have some fun.
Longtime and new members of Cokesbury will celebrate the congregation’s 65th anniversary. The church began on January 19, 1960.
The congregation will have a special church service on Sunday, January 26, at 10:30 a.m., where Alex Shanks, the assistant to the bishop of the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church, will be the featured speaker. According to Marva Franklin, a lay pastor leading the celebration, everyone will enjoy a covered dish lunch with everyone bringing food.
They will then hold a gala celebration on Saturday, February 8, at 7:00 p.m., in honor of its 65th anniversary.
“We will have great fellowship and celebrate the ministry with family and friends. The event offers delicious food, music, and dance, which are included in the $65 donation,” said Frankin.
Rev. Lucas Bonates, Cokesbury’s pastor, is looking forward to the celebration. “This means that our church still has the energy to engage and promote big events and activities,” he said.
Cokesbury is located at 1801 Northwest 65th Avenue, Margate.
