Margate Commissioner Tommy Ruzzano shared a Facebook post to fellow commissioners regarding the future of the Carolina Golf Course, located at 3011 N Rock Island Road.
The project team for the Carolina Golf Course has resubmitted its application for redevelopment, which triggers specific timelines, according to Ruzzano’s information.
Meetings that will be open to the public have been scheduled:
- August 26, Development Review Committee Meeting
- September 10, Planning and Zoning Board
- October 1, City Commission First Reading
- May 20, 2026, City Commission Second Reading
Ruzzano was unavailable for comment; however, he has spoken out against proposals to build apartment buildings on the golf course, stating that he wants to preserve the open space.
Residents of Keep Margate Green, an organization dedicated to keeping open space in Margate, have spoken against development on the golf course. Other members of the commission had no comment on the matter.
