Man Arrested for Throwing Vape at Girlfriend’s Face Causing a Laceration

A Margate man was arrested after allegedly injuring his partner with a vape because he discovered she was an online phone sex operator.

Margate Police Department records show that on July 20, Sterling Coney, 33, was taken into custody by Hollywood Police at his workplace, Delaware Chicken Farm and Seafood Market, after officers responded to a domestic violence call earlier that morning.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched to a residence in Margate where they met with the victim, who claimed she had been assaulted by her longtime boyfriend, Coney.

The victim told officers that the couple had been arguing over her alleged use of online phone sex profiles when Coney threw a vape device at her, striking her in the face and causing a laceration and nosebleed, according to the report.

The victim told officers that Coney then destroyed her phone by throwing it to the ground multiple times before leaving the home in an Uber. She was able to call 911 using a disconnected phone after he left.

Coney was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail and later released after posting $500 bond.
