Residents will have an opportunity to help save lives when the OneBlood Big Red Bus rolls into Margate for a community blood drive on Wednesday, July 29.
The mobile donation center will be parked in front of the Northwest Focal Point Senior Center, 6009 NW 10th St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
According to OneBlood, residents are encouraged to donate to help meet the ongoing need for lifesaving products for patients throughout South Florida. Every donation can help trauma victims, cancer patients, individuals undergoing surgery and others facing medical emergencies.
As a thank-you, all eligible donors will receive a $20 eGift card, a limited-edition Big Red Bus T-shirt and a complimentary wellness checkup that includes blood pressure, pulse, temperature, iron count and cholesterol screening.
Appointments are encouraged, although walk-ins may be accepted if space is available. Donors can schedule an appointment or visit OneBlood’s website and use sponsor code 34993.
According to OneBlood, only about 3% of eligible people donate blood, making community blood drives an important source of lifesaving donations for local hospitals.
