Ace Hardware in Margate {Google Maps}
The Margate City Center project is slowly moving along, and this means changes to the surrounding business community.
Noor Vallyani, the long-time owner of the Ace Hardware store at 5843 Margate Boulevard, received approval from the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) to purchase land from the city at the corner of 1491 State Road 7 and 5750 Northwest 15th Street for $475,000 during the July 9 meeting.
He plans to relocate Ace Hardware to the new property and build a new store building.
CRA board member Arlene Schwartz questioned the agreement and said she believed the city was not getting the best price for the property.
Vice Chair Tommy Ruzzano said that Vallyani has made a strong contribution to the city’s business community and allowing him to buy the property and build a new store would continue to benefit the city.
Vallyani said he knows the store he has operated for years will soon be demolished and he is looking forward to rebuilding it in a new location.
