North Broward Prep Hands Out End of the Year Athletic Awards. {NBP Athletics}

After an incredible high school sports season for North Broward Prep, the Eagles handed out their end-of-the-year awards.
Male Athlete of the Year: Justin Abson
Justin Abson, who is signed to play college basketball at Appalachian State, was awarded Male Athlete of the Year. The senior helped NBP win 27 games this past season and led his team in points, rebounds, and blocks.

Female Athlete of the Year: Leah Finkelman
The female athlete of the year was Leah Finkelman. The junior set a school record with 34 goals in 23 games.
Male Service Award: Jason Krause
Jason Krause was awarded the male service award. Since ninth grade, he has been playing high school sports and was a part of the Eagles’ second straight State Championship. Krause is set to attend the University of Tampa.
Female Service Award: Shoshana Folic
Shoshana Folic won the female service award. She ran track and came in fifth in the 4 x 800 relay in States.
Male Sportsmanship Award: Filippo Boro
Filippo Boro was awarded the male sportsmanship award for his action on the court. He also played on the varsity basketball team and averaged 2.3 points per game in 15 games.
Female Male Sportsmanship Award: Morgan Downs
Morgan Downs won the female sportsmanship award after playing for the tennis team and helping them to a third-place finish in Districts.
Male Athletic Director Award: Clancy Marsh
The Male Athletic Director Award is given out to a student that shows tremendous personal growth from one year to the next. Clancy Marsh won that and also a State Championship with the baseball team. He hit .320 with a home run and 11 rbi this season.
Female Athletic Director Award: Kendall Watts
Kendall Watts from the girl’s soccer team received the Athletic Director Award after helping the Eagles go 16-5-2 and a trip to the Regional Final. She recorded a pair of goals and had six points while helping the defense allow only 26 goals this season.
Courage Award: Ryan Scanlon
Ryan Scanlon had some high school athletic career. Despite suffering a stroke in utero, leaving him with weakness on his right side, he managed to play on the varsity football team and was the team manager of the baseball team.

Comeback Player of the Year: Cailey Katz
Cailey Katz suffered a torn ACL earlier in her high school career and came back this year and scored 17 goals. She also had 66 points on the girl’s soccer team.
Iron Eagle Award: Aaro Tuovinen
Aaro Tuovinen Won the Ironman award for his success with a pair of varsity teams. He recorded 26 tackles on the football team and won a State Championship with the hockey team.
Female Iron Eagle Award: Leah Forudi
The iron Eagle award for the females went to Leah Forudi. She was a District champion on the 4 x 400 relay team and was also a cheerleader.
Male Iron Eagle Award: Michael Bagot
The male Eagle award was presented to Heidelberg University signee Michael Bagot. Along with reaching states in track and field, he caught six passes for 82 yards and recorded ten tackles.
Male Perseverance Award: Connor Clyatt
Connor Clyatt never gave up in his high school career and won the perseverance award. He was a District Champion in the triple jump and finished fifth in states.
Female Perseverance Award: Catarina Bastos
For the girls, Catarina Bastos was the winner. After scoring four goals and having four assists, Bastos improved on that with five goals and eight assists this year.
Male Foundation Award: Maximus Fuentes
Maximus Fuentes elevated his high school basketball team to the next level. He averaged 10.1 points per game in four years on varsity and eclipsed 1,000 career points during his senior season.

Female foundation: Victoria Hernandez
Victoria Hernandez was a pivotal piece to the 4 x 400 relay team, which came 12th in states.
Best Performance Award: Joseph Griseta
Joseph Gristea was one of four Eagles to have the best performance in a game. Not only did he throw for 167 yards against Coral Springs Charter, but he also led the team in rushing with 167 yards with five combined touchdowns.
Best Performance Award: Rachel Weiner
Rachel Weiner had one of the most incredible seasons on the lacrosse team. She was the team leader in goals and assists. Next, Wiener will play at Northwestern University.
Best Performance Award: Morgan King
Morgan King not only clinched the District Championship in the high jump, she followed that up with a first-place finish in Regionals and competed in the state championship.
Best Performance Award: Yoel Tejada Jr.
University of Florida signee York Tejada had a historic day in the District Championship. Tejada recorded a walk-off home run and also had a grand slam in NBP’s 9-8 win over Coral Springs Charter.
Male Newcomer of the Year: Adren Roberts
Adren Roberts made his mark coming over to NBP on the boy’s basketball team with 9.6 points per game and nearly six rebounds while the team won 27 games.
Male Newcomer Jonathan Xuerub
After the Eagles won a State Championship in 2021, Jonathan Xuerub came over this year and helped them repeat. The Appalachian State signee hit .388 with six home runs and 22 RBIs.
Male Newcomer of the Year: Ivory Edgecomb
In her first year at North Broward Prep, Ivory Egdexomv scored 11 goals and 30 points, helping the Eagles win a Regional Championship.
Eagle Award: Sergio Loza
Sergio Loza won the Eagle award for his dedication, hard work, and strong leadership skills. He was on the football team and caught nine passes for 88 yards.
Eagle Award: Sarah Lowe
Sarah Lowe won the award for the female as a vital member of the girl’s lacrosse team that won seven games.
Male Elise Ecoff Impact Award: Christian Dohler
Christian Dohler made his mark on the school as a two-sport athlete. Dohler played multiple positions on the football team and also ran track. He will play next year at Georgetown University.

Female Elise Ecoff Impact Award: Lena Kalandijian
Lena Kalandijian was a star in five different tracks and field events. She ran in the 100, 200, and 400 meters and the long jump and triple jump.
Residential Male Athlete of the Year: Apolo Rodriguez
Apollo Rodriguez has spent the tinted school year living at NBP and was a district winner in the 100, 300, and 4 x 100 relay race.
Residential Female Athlete of the Year: Isabella Hernandez
Swimmer Isabella Hernandez had a great high school career and is headed to swim at Nova Southeastern University.
