North Broward Prep Athletics Soar into Fall and Winter Season with Impressive Performances

With the fall and winter season officially overlapping, North Broward Prep had another busy week of athletics.

Cross Country

The boys cross country team is headed to Regionals, with North Broward Prep in seventh place. Wills Gillis finished first for NBP and came in 19th place at 18:12.56. Eric Levy and William Kontos finished with nearly identical times to come in 26th and 27th respectively, while. Lucas Wiley, Daniel Robles, Luke Diamond, Noah Rivers, Dakota Miller, and Joseph Rondon competed.

The girls team finished in place, with Briley Rebello recording the fast time for NBP. Sloan Munoz finished second with Lucia Casacci, Elise Pluta, Madison Pavon, and Katherine Heggerick all racing. Next, the Eagles will compete in Regionals on November 9.

Golf

Cooper Roth shot a 68 for the boys golf team and will be joined at States by Cooper Roth, who qualified with a 73. They will compete on November 7-8 at Mission Inn Resort and Club.

Football

The football team completed the regular season with their fifth win on Friday night, 27-21, against American Heritage High School (Delray Beach). The Eagles trailed 14-7 but scored 20 unanswered points, with Tromon Isaac catching a pair of touchdown passes. Anthony Maestre also scored along with Eric Kontos.

While the Eagles are a young team, they did celebrate senior night for Connor Black, Caleb Makovsky, Kontos, and Rohan Alapati. NBP is set to play American Heritage High School (Plantation) in the opening round of the postseason. NBP earned the eighth seed and will play the top-seeded Patriots on Friday, November 10 at 7 p.m. This will be the first meeting between these two this year after American Heritage went 7-1, with their lone loss coming against Chaminade-Madonna High School.

They beat Somerset Academy, Northeast, Coral Springs Charter, and Pine Crest, scoring at least 27 in all their wins. NBP lost to Archbishop McCarthy High School, Saint Andrews, NSU University, and Calvary Christian Academy.

Soccer

The NBP soccer teams began their season with exhibition games. The boys team beat Coral Glades 3-0 in their first game after the Eagles won seven games last season. The girl team beat Cypress Bay High School 1-0, with Ella Munoz scoring the lone goal. NBP won 14 games and made a run in Regionals, while both teams will open the regular season with games against FAU High School on Monday. The girls will start at 5 p.m. with the boys starting at 7 p.m.

Baseball

The baseball team continued their preparation for the baseball season and participated in their fourth annual game against the Savannah Bananas. NBP has been to the State Final for the last three years, winning in 2021 and 2022.
