A Margate mother was arrested earlier this month for leaving her three young children home alone surrounded by urine, dirty diapers, and filthy clothing—and just one bowl of food to share between them, court records show.
Mirlene Dalmacy, 34, of Celebration Pointe Way, left her children, ages 1, 3, and 10, alone in the family’s apartment on Oct. 2, according to an arrest affidavit filed by Margate Police.
A concerned neighbor called the police, who arrived to find the children inside the residence “without any supervision,” the affidavit states.
“[Officers] observed one bowl of food that was left for the three children on the floor of the apartment…urine, dirty diapers, and dirty clothing [were] scattered throughout the residence.”
Police found Dalmacy at her workplace several hours later and placed her under arrest.
She told investigators she had intentionally left her kids without supervision, the records show.
Dalmacy was charged with one count of child neglect without great bodily harm. Records show she was booked into the Broward County Main Jail and freed on a $2,000 bond.
Court records did not indicate where the children were residing after Dalmacy’s arrest.
