As the nation prepares to honor its birth, the City of Margate, in collaboration with the Margate Community Redevelopment Agency (MCRA), is putting the final touches on its 4th of July Extravaganza.
This all-day, family-friendly event is packed with excitement, featuring a parade, a pool party, a concert, and a grand fireworks show.
The day starts at 9:00 a.m. with the 4th of July Parade, where spectators can watch a vibrant sea of red, white, and blue parades down Margate Boulevard from 76th Avenue to State Road 7.
Prizes will be awarded to a private business, a non-profit organization, and a Margate family for participation. Post-parade, the MCRA will serve refreshments and set up bounce houses for children. Interested parties can register for the parade here.
Following the parade, the City’s Parks and Recreation Department will host a Calypso Cove Pool Party from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The party will be in full swing with a steel drum band at the City’s water park, 6200 Royal Palm Boulevard. Standard admission applies to the event.
Later in the evening, the 4th of July Extravaganza begins at 5:00 p.m. at the northwest corner of Margate Boulevard and State Road 7. The event will feature food trucks and obstacle courses for attendees to enjoy. A live performance by VAM Band starts at 6:00 p.m., setting the stage for the spectacular fireworks display that begins promptly at 9:00 p.m.
According to the city, road closures will be in effect to accommodate the day’s events. From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., eastbound lanes of Margate Boulevard from 76th Avenue to SR 7 will be closed. Margate Boulevard, from the Clock Tower to SR 7, will also be closed from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. SR 7 from Atlantic Boulevard to Coconut Creek Parkway will be shut down from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
